Huuuge intentionally triggered avalanche in Provo canyon a few days ago. 30 FEET of snow crossing a 4 lane divided highway. I’d seen the pics on the news but driving past the cut out remains today ( that just opened up last night, after happening thursday) was eye opening how big it really was. This would have a devistating natural avalanche.

Man alive. 12 reported avalanches in the last 24 hours. One missing skiier still. Avalanches are scary.

Oof yeah that's wild. At least that means plenty of snow. But yeah definitely something to take seriously. Nature ain't to be fucked with!

D ang... we get some fairly big ones in our Cascade passes up here sometimes , but that is huge... Makes the equipment look like Tonka toys.

sad story.

going it would be another fatality free year but i knew as soon as I heard about this burial it wasn’t going to be the case.

i got a call from my brother in law about back country stuff and he asked “i was going to ski some safe low angle  near me but there is a more fun slope near it , if there are tracks on it already that means it’s safe right? we have no avalanche gear”

yup. the two biggest factors are terrain management and overcoming the human factors . " it's fine, i really want first tracks!" has killed more than a few.

It’s certainly sketchy out there. I was going to go to powder park 3 on Saturday but plans fell through
